About Keynou Colorpicker

Keynou Colorpicker is a free color picker and eyedropper extension for Chrome. It does one thing well: it lets you grab the exact color of any pixel you can see - on a web page, in another app, in an image or video, or anywhere on your desktop - and copies it to your clipboard in the format you need.

Who makes it

It is built and maintained by Keynou, a small team that makes free, privacy-first browser tools and web utilities. Keynou Colorpicker is part of a wider family that includes Keynou Tools (60+ free online utilities), Keynou Drive, and Keynou Flow. You can reach the team any time at support@keynou.com.

Why we built it

Designers and developers pick colors off the screen dozens of times a day, yet the built-in options are clumsy: the DevTools eyedropper only reaches inside the current page, and OS-level pickers live outside the browser workflow and rarely hand you a CSS-ready value. We wanted a picker that opens in one click, samples the whole screen, and drops a correctly formatted value straight onto the clipboard - with no account, no ads, and no data leaving your device.

How it works

The extension is built on the browser's native EyeDropper API, which is why it can read pixels from outside the browser and why picking is pixel-accurate with a zoom loupe. After you pick, the popup gives you a full color wheel plus every format at once - HEX, HEX8, RGB, RGBA, HSL, HSLA, HSV and CMYK - and keeps your last 20 colors as a local history. If you are new to it, our guide on how to pick a color from any website walks through it step by step.
